Chances are either your Commserver is not running at all, (check the
server to see if there is an icon that looks like two small computers
by the time in the system tray) or you may be having an internet connection
problem that is not allowing a connection to our update server.
If this icon is not there find the icon on the desktop for "P98Comm"
or "Promax98 Comm Server" and double click it. This should flash a small
gray box and then put the 2 small computers down by the time. Commserver
will automatically try to connect in 20 seconds if it is successful, you
may have to wait for a few minutes, then you can get back into ProMax.
if Commserver is running then call Technical Support @ 563-344-4245 for
assistance troubleshooting your internet connection.

This message can be caused by a couple of things. The first one is the
same as "Your internet configuration is out of date" message. If this
is the case you would have received the "Your internet configuration is
out of date" message first. The other cause is logging into Windows using
a different user name than the one used to open ProMax the first time
on this machine.
The first cause can be remedied the same as the "out of date" message
make sure Commserver is running if not start it and wait a few minutes.
The second cause can be remedied by logging in under the same username
as was used before. Or you can call Tech Support @ 1-563-344-4245 and
any of us can help with this.
There is also one other cause for this and that would be that you are
trying to open ProMax on too many machines and will need to increase the
number of licenses you currently have.

Commserver is the communication software that not only checks for updates
but also sends and receives email, faxes apps to your lenders, and pulls
credit bureaus for ProMax.

The easiest way to find out who you need to talk to with a problem is
to first ask the question. Is this a how to question or is there a problem
with the way the program is working. If it is a how to question you will
want to speak with someone in our training dept. If it is an inventory
download problem you will probably want to speak with Jason in the setup
dept. any other questions are to handled by the tech support dept or they
will know who you need to speak with.

A dedicated phone line is a phone line that does not go through your
switchboard and has no other devices attached to it except the ProMax
machine.

PC Anywhere is third party software that we use to get into your machine
to make repairs and download needed files directly into your machine.
Without this software we have found it almost impossible to fix some
things that can go wrong with a system. This is a required piece of software
for your service contract.
Yes there are some things we can talk you through but sometimes even
this is done faster if we can get in and look at what is going on with
the system.

It appears the network path is inaccessible at this time.
This message usually indicates that there is some sort of problem on
the network.
Sometimes this can be resolved simply by opening up "My Computer" and
double clicking the drive that has a red "X" on it. This will open a window
with the contents of the drive if there are no major problems with the
network.
If this does not work the first time make sure the ProMax server is running.
If the ProMax server is not running start it and after it is booted up
try the workstation again.
If these do not work call tech support and we will troubleshoot the problem
and do what we can to resolve the issue. However sometimes these issues
require someone be on site to resolve the issue.

When I try to open ProMax I get an error stating
" Unable to establish a connection to ADS Server."

path is inaccessible at this time" message. See.... "it

My modem will not dial to pull a Credit Bureau or send
an application to a lender. What can I do?
If you make your connection to the internet using a dialup connection,
make sure that you are not connected to the internet, this will not allow
the modem to dial out for CB’s or faxes because the modem is in use.
If this is not the case, click on the “Start” button, then go to “Settings”
and click on the “Control Panel”. Double-click on the “Modems” or
“Phone and Modem Options” icon and see what COM port the modem is installed.
Close those Windows, and then click on the Commserver icon in the system
tray. In the Commserver Window, click on the “Configuration” button,
then on “Modem and Credit Bureau Configuration”. Check at the top
of the Window to see if the COM port selected matches the COM port that
the modem is installed. If that doesn’t solve the problem, check
to see if PC Anywhere is in waiting. If it is cancel it. If this still
does not work call the Technical Support team for assistance.

I’ve tried to connect my Commserver and the modem log says, “The port
is not available, or already in use by another device.” How can
I fix this?
The simplest fix is to do a “Cold” reboot of the computer. Click
on the “Start” button, click on “Shut Down” and select “Shut Down Computer”.
Wait until you get the message, “It’s now safe to turn off your computer”
and then turn the power off to the tower. Wait 10 seconds, then
turn your computer back on and logon to Windows as normal. Make
sure the Commserver restarts and see if the “port error” reoccurs.
If it does reoccur, make sure that the phone line is plugged into the
modem in the back of the computer and is plugged into the jack that IS
NOT labeled “Phone” or has a picture of a telephone. If the
problem still persists, you will need to get a technician to check and
see that the modem and its drivers are properly installed.

When I try to go into ProMax, I get an error message that says, “Your
ProMax version is out of date, please call our office to obtain the latest
version.” What do I do?
This is a message to inform you that you do not have the current NADA
book values and that your inventory is not up to date with the current
books. First, check to see if the system clock is set to the correct
date. Hover over the time in the system tray and see if the date
and time is correct. If the date and time are correct, check to
see if your Commserver is running. (check the Server to see if there is
an icon of two small computers by the time in the system tray) Also, make
sure all computers on the network are logged out of ProMax and see if
the inventory begins updating itself. When you receive an update
of book values, all computers MUST be logged out of ProMax so the updates
can be processed. If this does not fix the problem, call Technical
Support to troubleshoot the updating process.

My credit bureaus do not look the way I am used
to.
ProMax has 3 different ways
to view credit bureaus. You can change the way you view credit bureaus
by clicking on the “configuration” tab and clicking “Select Credit Bureau
Format”. You will find the choices of Standard (text view), Easy Read
(especially nice for people new to viewing bureaus, but will take longer
to print on the Okidata printer), and Southwestern (text view with special
changes for the southwest) Click in whichever you would like and then
click back. There is also an option to preview the different views here.
